Con Nooga’s 2nd Skit Competition.

Connooga is proud to present a competition that will be fun and entertaining not only for everyone viewing it but also for participants. This competition will be open for anyone and everyone in costume or not to get up on stage and show off your creativeness. This can be done by singing, dancing, acting, or just plain doing crazy stuff on stage. This contest will focus less on a person/groups actual costume and instead let everyone be judged on their acts allowing for people that can’t make their own costumes to still have a chance to win over those that can by showing off their talents outside of sewing and gluing. Join us Sunday for something no one will want to miss. It’s a great way to send the weekend off with a bang.

Skit Contest Rules & Information

1. There will be a limit of forty entries, at the Director's discretion and depending upon the "mix" of contestants. A group performance is considered to be one entry.  Registration will be online and at the Con. Registration at the con will be all day Friday and Till noon on Saturday. Registration at the con will be confirmed closer to convention dates.

2. Individual presentations and group sketches and skits are limited to 4 minutes. The Director reserves the right to remove contestants who violate these time limits.

3. Microphones may be used by the contestants. All audio material must be pre-recorded on a CD. This includes but is not limited to Voice dubbing, music, or sound effects.

4. To have music or dialog accompany your presentation, you must pre-record it on a CD and you MUST bring the CD when you register so that the track can be reviewed, approved, and loaded onto our equipment.  Once approved, your CD will be kept by the staff in case the track has to be re-copied.  On your tech sheet, you will indicate when the track is to be played during your performance. This will be either during the Emcee introduction or after it. Untested, unapproved, new or changed CDs will not be accepted after registration has closed.  If your track exceeds the time limits, it will be truncated (cut off at the time limit).

5. No profanity allowed. Any contestant who violates this rule will be removed from the stage immediately. Your CD will be checked for profanity when you register.  If you attempt to shout profanity to the audience you will be removed.

6. No nudity allowed, this is a family costume show. No costume is no costume.

7. No flash pots or explosive devices of any kind will be allowed.

8. If you plan to carry a weapon, you must conform to the following: No illegal or loaded weapons. You must demonstrate that you can carry the weapon without injury to yourself or others. Transportation of weapons to and from the Masquerade must follow the convention's weapon policy.

9. Props will have to be carried on and off the stage by the contestants. If your props require more people to move them, you will have to provide the manpower. When you register for the contest, you must tell us why you need helpers and how many helpers you will have.

10. There is no pre-judging session. Registered contestants will report to the designated prep area for set-up activities and information at 10:30 AM. We will do pre-show direction in the prep area . There will be a photographer set up in the prep area. There is not a large backstage area and there are no private dressing rooms; show up ready to go onstage.

11. After your performance, you will move to the front of the audience seats that will be left open for the contestants.

12. All performances will be required to write a short introduction for themselves or their group. This introduction will include a name for the group or individual and a title for the skit and a small introduction of what will happen during the skit. This doesn’t mean the full skit has to be given to the Emcee, but just a brief synopsis or even a witty comment about how to start your skit.

These rules and extra information may be put up as the convention gets closer, but everyone involved will be notified if anything changes.
